1. General information
The general objective of this subject is that the student, from the knowledge of its contents, is able to explain and understand the concept and basic theories of Psychology, the basic psychopathologies in childhood, adolescence and old age, therapy techniques and behaviour modification from different paradigms and the basic aspects of communication in the therapeutic processes . SDGs 3, 4, 5, 10 and 16 will be addressed.
This subject is integrated in the Psychology topics. 2ºThis subject is taken in the second year of the Occupational Therapy Degree.
It aims to train the student to work taking into account the different aspects that are part of the psychological reality of the user and enable them to cope with the cognitive alterations associated with different diseases.
2. Learning results
In order to pass this subject, the students shall demonstrate they has acquired the following results:
- To be able to apply the contents of psychology taught within the field of Health Sciences, and especially within the context of Occupational Therapy.
- To create individualized programs that respond to the needs of the patient, the patient's environment, caregivers, relatives and other professionals.
- To properly apply effective communication techniques with the user, families, social groups and other professionals.
- To evaluate and analyse the information available from different texts, and synthesize the results obtained in a clear and coherent way.
- To work as a team, sharing knowledge and experiences that enable the improvement of the professional activity, always showing an attitude of respect for one's own work and that of others.

Block 1. Introduction
- Psychological response to illness
Block 2: Childhood
- General psychopathology in childhood
- Intellectual disability
- Attention Deficit Disorder
- Autism Spectrum Disorder
- Behavioural disorders in childhood
- Other situations that affect development during infancy
Block 3. Adult Age
- Most common psychological disorders in adulthood
- Personality disorders
- Acquired brain damage
- Neurodegenerative disease
4. Academic activities
Theoretical classes in large groups (30 h): 1.5 h/week throughout the term.
Seminars on problem solving and case studies in groups (30 h): 2 h/week spread throughout the term.
Presentation and defence of practical cases.
Teaching and other activities (27 h)

5. Assessment system
1- Written exam (40% of the final grade of the subject):
It will be held on the date of the official call for exams. It consists of an objective test with precision questions and relation of concepts. The exam will consist of 30 multiple-choice questions. The formula to determine the grade is [Right answers -(Errors / No. of items - 1)]/3.
2- Seminars-practices (40% of the final grade of the whole subject):
The practices will consist of the development of cases from the approach of the subject. Consideration will be given to:
- Attendance.
- Active and efficient participation in class and externally.
- Presentation and defence of the different cases worked from the point of view of the subject. The student must demonstrate that they knows how to apply the theoretical bases of the subject in the resolution of questions or practical assumptions, with a precise, clear and argued language.
3. Attendance and participation (20% of the final grade for the entire subject):
Attendance and participation in theoretical classes and practical seminars will account for 20% of the total final grade.
It is a prerequisite to pass the subject to attend the practices and to obtain a 5 or more in the grade of the exam of the subject.
Likewise, the average of the different sections must be greater than or equal to 5 points.
Global test: those who choose to take the global test must submit a paper to evaluate the practical part of the subject.
